Ten things you always wanted to know about Emma (grin):
1. What instrument did you play in band?
*In grade school I chose the clarinet to play in the school band. My senior year of high school and junior year of college I joined the marching band but both of those years I chose to participate in the flag corp instead of the clarinet.
2. Where did you go to college and what years?
*I graduated high school May 1982. I attended Danville Area Community College (Danville, IL) in 1982-1984 and graduated with AAS in Bookkeeping/Data Processing, Certificate in Data Entry. I then transferred to Eastern IL Univ where I attended 1984-1986, majoring in BS in Business, Administrive Office Management, Personnel Management. I got married in 1986 and had 3 classes left to graduate. I moved from IL to VA so after I had been in VA a year and could claim residency status I went to Christopher Columbus University, completed those 3 classes, transferred them back to EIU and graduated in 1987.
3. Were you ever in a school play or musical?
*I was in a production of Oklahoma....and I loved it!! It was one of the 'good' memories from school!!
4. What was your favorite subject in school?
*Math...I loved math and was pretty good at it.
5. Did you belong to any clubs in high school?
*I was in the Radion/TV Production Club, Library Club, GAA Bowling. Hmm, those are the only ones that comes to mind without a yearbook to refresh my memory!
6. What was your first job?
*My first job, other than babysitting, was as a waitress as Pizza Hut. I was only 16 and they served beer. Since I was so young if someone ordered it I had to have someone else serve it to the table, lol.
7. When and where were you married? Did you have a honeymoon?
*We eloped March 26, 1986. I was in VA visiting Dave for a week over spring break.....and because of issues with my parents we decided to go ahead and elope while I was there! :-) It was exciting. We got the rings, license, got an appt, got married. Friends of Dave's took us to Denny's to eat and then we went to VA Beach for a walk, but it was freezing! We did go back July 4, 1987 and have our church wedding with family and friends. We did not have a honeymoon either time though. Maybe when the kids are grown and gone? lol
8. Did you have pets
*Growing up I always had cats and dogs on my Grandparents' farm which was only a couple of miles from our house. My first real pet at home was a kitten that was black and white and named Dingy (short for Ding-a-ling).....my Dad named him. The cat (Dad was allergic and really didn't care for them) would run after Dad and Dad would say "you little ding-a-ling" and it stuck.
9. Did you do well in school? Did you ever skip school?
*I was a pretty good student. Not the best but above average....an A/B student usually. I never had the guts to skip school, lol. One day my senior year my mother gave me permission to 'skip' a day lol....that was my big time to not go to school.
10. Did you have chores as a child?
*yep, I sure did. You name it, I did it.
